Two days ago, Fulham were linked with a move to sign AS Roma youngster Matias Soule.
Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the London club had taken ‘concrete’ steps to sign the Argentine and were trying to land him on a loan deal in the winter transfer window.
Other clubs were also interested but Fulham’s approach seemed the most valid.
The 21-year-old featured for Roma in their 1-1 draw against Napoli yesterday. After the game, he was asked about the possibility of leaving.
The winger revealed that while the Roman club did consider offers, he wants to stay and establish himself at the Giallorossi.
He said, as relayed by Calciomercato.it: “I heard that some offers have arrived, Roma have evaluated them.
“I am gaining confidence every day, from everyone. I want to stay, I feel better and better, I work 100% to have opportunities like now. I am convinced that I can give more to stay here for a long time.”
That should end all hopes for Fulham.
Soule arrived at the club from Juventus in the summer of 2024 after impressing during a loan stint at Frosinone. He has scored only once this season, playing 21 times in all competitions.
Marco Silva’s side will now have to focus on other targets, as the winter transfer window concludes soon.
