Fulham and AS Roma are in something of a standoff regarding Zeki Çelik and a transfer before the end of the window.
The transfer deadline of Monday night is now fast approaching, and Fulham are working to take the Turkey international from the Serie A side.
So far, the Premier League club have put a loan offer on the table. That loan would include an option to buy for Fulham, and this is where the sticking point currently is.
Roma want that option to be an obligation instead and if Fulham agree to that condition then a transfer can go through.
The 27-year-old has made 28 appearances so far this season but has dropped in prominence in recent weeks. He can play right back, wing back and right midfield, even helping out as a centre back when required.
Çelik’s contract lasts until June 2026, and that’s likely one of the reasons Roma want an obligation clause. The player’s value will drop come the summer and they’d prefer to protect themselves.
Fulham can likely get this one over the line with an obligation linked to appearances.
