Fulham were linked with a move for AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze on transfer deadline day.
The transfer didn’t go through and the Nigerian stayed at the Italian side.
Some background about the failed transfer has now emerged, with MilanLive detailing how the situation developed on deadline day.
The outlet claim that Fulham were so keen on the Nigeria international that they put an offer of €30m on the table for him.
Through that money, Milan would have been able to reinvest in their side and sign more players on deadline day. They would have also made a capital profit on the sale.
It is the lack of time in the transfer window that ‘ruined everything’. As a result, Fulham missed out.
There’s interest from Turkey in the winger but for now, Chukwueze only wants to play in more prestigious leagues. As a result, it is quite likely that he will stay at Milan till the end of the season and his future will be decided in the summer.
It remains to be seen whether Fulham come calling for him again or not.
