On Thursday, UOL reported Fulham had given the green light for Carlos Vinícius to join Red Bull Bragantino.

Globo Esporte state the striker came very close to joining the Brazilian club before Fulham blocked the deal.

The 29-year-old was already in São Paulo and took photos with Bragantino’s shirt ahead of announcing the transfer. He was also undergoing treatment with their medical staff for an injury.

Vinícius was able to do this as there was an agreement in place with all parties. He had to put pen to paper to make his signing official. This won’t happen because Marco Silva’s side ‘interrupted negotiations’ with Bragantino.

Globo claim a Fulham striker suffered an injury, without providing the details of the player. This forced them to request the Brazilian to return to the club.

UOL also report that Bragantino came very close to securing the frontman’s services. The deal won’t take shape because the Premier League side ‘blocked the transfer’.

According to UOL, Fulham took this step after selling Jay Stansfield to Birmingham City on deadline day. Therefore, Silva’s side ‘vetoed the deal’ for Vinícius.

PL Brasil backs up UOL’s claim that Fulham blocked Vinícius’ transfer to Bragantino, after Stansfield’s sale to Birmingham City.

The South American will have no choice but to return to Fulham, where he has a deal until 2025, with an option for another year.
